"Contemporary-Retro" is a new genre which focusses on the timeless musical art-form of instrument and voice. This
music stands in contrast to the highly commercialized productions which
appear to have dominated the music scene in recent years. It links back
to times (e.g. 60s and early 70s) when indiviudual creative artists
could express themselves freely through their music without 3rd party constraints
(hence "Retro").
"Contemporary-Retro" de-constructs and re-constructs music in a new way, using the philosophy of "less is more". The music of Nemo Shaw demonstrates this. It is without the layers of production so prevalent in today's music. This makes space for Nemo's dynamic "single brush stroke-like" performances which channel and allow for the fullest depths of feeling, imagination and reflection.
